Game development has never been easy. That’s something I’ve heard and read a lot before, even before I started giving game development a serious whack. One of my first experiences with computer game development was when I was about eight years old. My friend and I loved games like Mega Man, Resident Evil, and especially Doom. We had both begun using WAD Author to craft some ridiculous maps. Eventually, he had the idea to use my digital camera (which was brand spanking new and affordable for my parents that year). We used a paintball gun and took some POV photos, saved them as horrible-looking BMPs, and loaded them into the WADS – our first mod.
That memory always stuck with me, although it was hardly my first experience with gaming. Since then, I’ve learned so much, with so much more to learn. Currently, my dream game (or at least my first ‘complete’ game) is something of a Recettear-like. It would incorporate real-time combat and shop-keeping elements with modern sensibilities and QoL features. I’d love the game to incorporate the item crafting, placement, and relationship building of games like Stardew Valley. Of course, this is all still a very early idea, and I’m still in the learning stage myself, but I look forward to learning, growing, and keeping track of my journey here! Stay tuned!
